A Day with Alexa

Sometimes the stack of plates that I keep balanced so that everything goes smoothly tips a bit. Today I had to take my last full personal day to spend the day with Alexa. She usually goes to a home daycare on Monday's, but her provider had a death in her family and the funeral was scheduled for today. It turned out to be a really fun day for us. After heading to work with me for a while and being a really good sport while I got everything ready for my substitute and made sure the report cards scheduled to be handed out to students today were all set, we headed home. We started out by making fruit smoothies together for snack...

yummy.

We played a bit with the remote control ladybug. Boy was Cabbie happy when we were done with that.

Then Alexa decided she wanted to go shopping. She has some allowance that she has been saving up and really wanted to head down to Borders to spend some. It was such a nice sunny day we opted to have her bike down to Church Street. She has out grown her bike from last year. She is now riding Chloe's old bike and as you can see her purse fits very nicely in the basket.

Here she is all excited to find something she wanted to buy.

After wandering all over the children's section, she settled on this little penguin named Waddles. She had a bit of a hard time spending the money when it came right down to it. Alexa is by nature a saver. I pointed out that she didn't have to buy anything, but in the end she broke down and bought it. We had to have tuna sandwhiches for lunch when we got home, so that Waddles could eat some too. Alexa felt she was very hungry after sitting on the shelf at the store.

She even got in a little hard math work on the computer while Mommy got some work done too. A very productive day all around.
