Chloe's New Bike

Chloe finally decided it was time for a new bike today. She has needed one for awhile. However Chloe gets very attached to items and did not want to change from her old bike. It was way too small for her as she has grown so tall, but I wasn't about to argue with her over spending money on a new bike if she didn't want one. This week, however, something changed her mind that it was time. I have no idea what it was and likely it was just that she decided it was time instead of me suggesting it. At any rate we went to the used bike shop down the street to see if they had anything that she liked. Now I tried to convince her that a gear bike would be in her best interest, but she wanted nothing to do with it. Chloe wanted a one speed bike with pedal brakes. This is what she picked out.

It is a little big for her, but as the bike guy pointed out not by much. Given the rate she grows it will be a perfect fit by July. They gave it a good check over and attached the basket she wanted and she rode it home this afternoon.

I have to say the look fits her! I lowered the seat on her old bike and tried to interest Alexa in it, but she prefers this one...
Chloe told me, "You know Mommy half the time she doesn't even pedal." Um, yeah, I did know that.

Vacation Finally

After spending their first two vacation days at work with me, the girls wanted me to take them frog catching. I have no idea why this was the request, but after we got home and changed into boots we went to the frog pond. They caught about 20 frogs.
This is a catch and release opperation. They caught a lot of small ones some even still had their tails.
Chloe became fascinated with the large ones.
I have no idea why a kid terrified by the idea of spiders has no problem catching and holding frogs but we won't ask questions.
Alexa caught quite a few... which is good since she was the one campaigning hard to go frog catching.

She worked herself up to holding them, but was very open about just wanting to hold the small ones. "The big ones kind of freak me out."

Dancing Sunday

Today was Alexa's dance recital. I was not allowed to take pictures during it so here is the picture taken backstage after I dropped her off with her group. They did a wonderful job and Alexa wanted to eat out downtown to celebrate. Which means we got to visit with the bears that are decorating Church Street while we were down there. Here is one of her favorites.

We also stopped for ice cream on the way home and she tried out the race car bear too.
Note the hidden Chloe in the next picture.

Dress Rehersal

This afternoon Alexa had her dress rehearsal for her recital this weekend. I got her to pose in the ballet costume... just barely.

She was actually out sick today as she wasn't feeling great this morning. She rebounded as she rested though. Normally I would have kept her out as she was not in school however her illness was more related to something she ate and not contagious. Also to miss would have been hard on her whole class. They did a great job. I took some videos of the practice and if blogger cooperates, I will upload them.

Brownies to Juniors

Today was Chloe's bridging ceremony from Brownies to Juniors. Alexa was the photographer.
Here they are reading parts of the poem.
Chloe crossing the "bridge" into Juniors. I should also mention that it was crazy hair day which explais why Chloe has a stuffed snake braided into her hair. Well, it sort of explains why.
Getting her wings pinned on.
Getting her Girl Scout bag-o-stuff.
Showing off her perfect attendance award.
