Backpack Findings

On Friday nights the girls have a sleep over at their dad's house. He picks Chloe up from after school and then comes over to get Alexa after I get home from work. I usually ask him to drop off Chloe's backpack so I can clean out her lunchbox before it starts growing things. It also means I clean out anything she brings home on Fridays in her backpack. It can be pretty entertaining. Especially since she isn't here to explain anything I find. Some of the things come from school and some she does at after school. Today I found these items...

A folder she designed containing her entire science unit on penguins. Cute Huh?

side two...

cracked me up.

My personal favorite is this...

a floor plan of our house. She appears to have draw each floor on top of the other, and has everything in roughly the right spot. I found it interesting how big she drew the attic (ateck). Given that not even I have actually been in the attic it amused me to see how big she thought it was. I was also amused at the spelling at first I thought she was calling it the attack. I was really puzzled as to what was attacking the top of our house. I also noticed that her room is significantly bigger than either my room or Alexa's, and we have a batt room instead of a bathroom. My personal favorite though is the cooking room on the first floor. That's right people living room, dining room, cooking room. You know if you think about it why do we call it a kitchen anyway?

The Holiday Continues

It would seem as though someone can't get enough of Easter around here. Alexa arrived home and decided it was time to dig out the dress up stuff and transform herself. She choose...

the Easter Bunny.

It can be a little tiresome if you happen to be the kid slaving away with math homework and your sister is, well...

kinda right under foot.

Don't feel too bad for Chloe though. Gripe and complain her way through the homework she does, but no one said you had to decorate your answers making your numbers into birds and such.

I mean really. You could just answer them and then you get out to flying your plane sooner.

And take the little bunny too.

Easter

Chloe woke me up at around 6AM. I was so soundly asleep I had to peer over at my alarm clock just to get a sense of exactly what time it was. As she is fond of telling anyone Easter is "My second favorite holiday." She wanted to hit the ground running. The bunny seemed not to disappoint.
He even left two tote bags for egg collecting outside and a note indicating they each had 15 eggs to find. They got right down to business.

I took a lovely photo of the sunrise lest any of you silly people missed it by, oh I don't know, sleeping.

Cabbie was even left a stuffed chicken which he took to right away.

Some of the basket highlights were foam airplanes... those were great to launch. Especially helpful if you have nice neighbors who don't mind you wandering in to their yard to fetch your stuff back when it goes zooming over the fence.

Chloe was a big fan of the kite the bunny left (one for each of them). It really wasn't kite flying weather (no wind) but nobody could convince her. She just ran up and down the yard towing it.

They were very excited to find stuffed penguins in their baskets.

And of course they were both fond of the yummy chocolate bunny. I was only moderately disturbed by Alexa eating the ears of her bunny and yelling, "Help not my ears."

We had a beautiful sunny 70 degree day. In years past they have had to wear snowsuits to collect the eggs. I hope you all had a wonderful day and got out to enjoy the sunshine.

Home Repair via Facebook

The other day I woke up to find the light on the deck looking like this...

It actually looked like it was just glued on the the wall. I was completely befuddled as to how one fixes something like this. I also am not inclined to spend money I don't have to, and electricians cost lots of money. So, I check my home repair book. Nada. Nothing explaining how to fix this little item. So I decided surely someone knows how to fix this without having to call a professional to come to my house and laugh at my ineptitude. That said, I took a picture and posted it on Facebook asking for help. Low and behold advice came, many thank yous Mike and Jason for your advice. The question now being can I do this and not electrocute myself?

TA DA! I did it!Cool huh? I was very proud of me. I had some help from my trusty assistant who needed a few Frisbee breaks in between on this 70 degree day.

I also made a discovery when I unscrewed everything. A discovery that took me back a few years...

Side note to my ex-husband here (since you mentioned you actually read my humble little blog- and I am touched really) Remember about 5 years ago when we searched the whole yard trying to figure where the hornets that were all over the kid's swing set were coming from? And you drove yourself crazy walking around with a can of hornet spray for days? Yeah, well....
found it.

Thank you too to Brian for offering to call 911 if you didn't hear from me soon. I have now been encouraged by this success and am planning to walk all around my house taking pictures of broken things and asking how to fix them. You are all my new help line.
