More Knitting

More Grammy knitting arrived today! Alexa was really happy to get her package. With the left over yarn we gave her to knit Alexa's sweater, she made a hat, scarf, and a doll sweater for Ruby.

Thank You Grammy Eva! So all this got Chloe to thinking....

Christmas Part 2

With eleven people packed into one house there was lots of time for hanging out with family.

Alexa was chatting with Aunt Andrea.

Uncle Ryan peeled his clementines in shapes that Annabel and alexa thought looked great as hats.

I even caught Chloe voluntarily reading to her sister.

Chloe spent a lot of time outside playing with Grammie Eva's goose and two ducks.

Chloe also created this amazing T-rex chasing an Archeopterix in the snow. 

After nightly games of Bannanagrams my kids became addicted to it.

Thanksgiving

OK, so I have been holding out on you a bit. I owe about a weeks worth of posts. Things have been rather busy around our little house. We had a lot of company over Thanksgiving which made for a really fun week. Along with the usual turkey and fixings, there were...

Cute, cuddly, little babies named Sam...

tiara adjustments and princess finery...

dance shows...

a lot of taira wearing factored into things...

butterfly sunglasses...

cute, cuddly dogs...

pathetic mooching dogs...

worn out squirrel chasing dogs...

and more cute, cuddly Sam moments.

We also learned a few things. We learned:

• three girls can all sleep in one bedroom and actually mostly sleep
• two little girls can share one bed and actually sleep, if they are properly worn out from a long day
• making a good case for downsizing the McMansions of this world five adults and four children can actually get along in a house just under 1,300 square feet with one bathroom. Although I wouldn't want to test that for too long.
• Grammie Eva will just keep on knitting things for ever if you keep feeding her and giving her access to new yarn. Her week's work: three hats, three pairs of mittens, and one pair of socks. The woman is a machine!
• snow pants are excellent protection for children going ice skating for the first time.
• a scant 1/8 inch of snow can send three children outside on a quest to build a snowman... not terribly successful, but it cleared them out of the house for a bit.
• Three little girls can take a shower at one time and think it is fun too
• four adults working together do not actually know a lot of the crossword puzzle answers

We really enjoyed having everyone. Alexa told me on Sunday, "I am really sad that everyone had to go home." We miss you and are so glad you came. Next time we will make sure to pack in Aunt Andrea and Uncle Ryan. I know they both look great in tiaras.

Overdue Thank You

OK Grammie Eva, we are way overdue on a thank you. Last week a package arrived at our house. It contained a new hat and scarf for Chloe. Grammie made it from left over yarn from Chloe's sweater.

She loves it Grammie double knit and reversible! Thank you very much. Now Alexa has some mittens in mind...

Grammie Sweaters

It is that time of year again, Fall. Nothing says fall more at our house than the newest round of sweaters made by Grammie Eva. The girls picked out some yarn back in August and we dropped it off at Grammie's house on our last trip to Maine. Today it was a chilly 54 degrees out this morning so we layered up.

Thanks Grammie they love them! You know this only serves to encourage them.

Alexa wanted to make sure you saw the scarf too (created out of the little bit of yarn she had left after the sweater was done).

*** Sorry Mom, we got them on Saturday, and the kids wore them on Monday, but I couldn't get the pictures to post for some reason.

Running Away

So, I have been way. Have you noticed? I haven't written a word in over a week. It is kind of a record for me since I started this blog. I wandered off to visit family on Cranberry Island in Maine. It is good for me to unplug a bit, but I know my faithful readers (all two of you) may have wondered where we I have been. So I will, of course, catch you up with some lovely stories (and videos if the blogger site cooperates) in the days to come. We had our usual beach fun on the island. It was really hot for most of the week. So having a 50 degree ocean 1/4 mile down the street from us was really nice.

We first went to the 4th of July Parade in Bar Harbor (technically done on the 3rd of July this year). The kids really liked it last year and wanted to go again.

It had a few participants that only Maine could have...

The kids enjoyed it though and collected a lot of candy and trinkets that were thrown from the floats. Neither one of my kids are big candy eaters. Chloe is especially picky and wont eat most of what she collected. This led her to develop an interesting plan. Chloe decided to have a sale in front of Grammie's house and sell her unwanted candy to people walking by. She also decided to add collected seashells and sea glass to her sale.

I had my doubts about how this was going to go. I mean she is trying to sell tourists sea shells on an island with a beach 1/4 of a mile from us. I didn't want to see her disappointed, but I shouldn't have worried. She made $4 on her first day and was extremely excited. Turns out people are willing to give cute little pony tailed kids quarters. This only served to inspire her more, so that afternoon when her Grammy Eva offered to help her make dog biscuits to sell to people. She was all excited. Grammy mixed the dough, and Chloe rolled and cut them (with help from Alexa).

She headed out the next day with new merchandise. She sold her treats at 50 cents a bag.

We even sat a bowl of water out for the tired pooches. Over the three days of her sale, Chloe made over twelve dollars. She was pretty excited and is already making plans to expand for her next visit.

For Grammie Eva

This is a big thank you for Grammie Eva who loves us and knits us great things. How cute are these hats? Look Grammie it was chilly this morning so off we went to school in our new doggie hats. They got lots of comments!

Chloe has come to think that Grammie is her own personal sweat shop of knitting. She requests all kinds of creations and Grammie does her best to fill them. I hate to break it to you but Alexa has one to...can you do a pink hat with a purple flower? What about if she gives you a please?
