Alexa's Friend Party

This afternoon was Alexa's birthday party with her friends. She invited five girls over one ended up not being able to make it as she got sick. She chose a cowgirl/horse theme. We came up with games and decorations to match.

She had a hard time waiting for everyone to get here.

They made horse puppets.
I fed them.
Lots.
And there were presents.
Now I think she is officially sent into the seventh year with lots of smiles!

Post 700

As a small defense in how long it has been since I posted anything (over a month as my mother point out last weekend) I did try topost last weekend but I had to fix my album so that I would have enough space to download more pictures. To be honest last weekend was a bit crazy as you will soon see.

Rounding out for post 700 I present you all of the things that I have not written about in weeks! Also known as finally downloading the pictures form my camera! We visted Maine over Thanksgiving. I mentioned to my mother that if she ever felt the need to just wip off more mittens our mitten basket seems to be full of singles. Not really sure where the other mate wanders off to. We left on a Saturday where she had begun a mitten for Chloe out of left over yarn she had from other projects. Four days later on Wednesday these arrived in the mail. Grammy is a knitting amchine I tell you!

I captured this very sweet moment of the girls reading together one Sunday morning after breakfast. Alexa had dug out all of our favorite Sandra Boynton books that we can not possibly part with.

Chloe had a birthday since I last posted too. Prior to her birthday party (which was a slumber party) I let her open the present from Grammie Eva. Grammie had gotten her a new sleeping bag. Since she has started attending sleepovers she has borrowed her sister's sleeping bag as she found her old Winnie the Pooh sleeping bag to be too embarrassing to use.
She was pretty excited!
The party was what you would expect with a total of seven children and me, but they all had fun and the house is still standing.
We decorated our Christmas tree.
And the dog...
Chloe requested a chocolate cream pie for her birthday this year instead of cake.
She opened her presents on the morning of her birthday.
And there you have it! Camera is empty and you are up to date. Hopefully it will not take me another month to post, but I make no promises!

The Cowgirl in her

Alexa was invited to a birthday party yesterday. It was a cowgirl theme. Now Lex likes to dress up, but I didn't think she had a lot of cowgirl type stuff. She pulled it off though. She dug out a horse skirt, horse shirt, and her Hello Kitty boots. They made vests at the party and each got a hat.
She now has made a special cowgirl section of her dress up stuff. Hee Haw.

Alexa's Party

Alexa was up bright and early this morning wanting to start decorating for her party.

She hung up her bee streamers every where.

We worked on the cake together.

Chloe had a friend come over to play too. They were mostly upstairs playing but came down to eat and watch presents being opened.

The Finishing Touches

Tomorrow Alexa is having some friends over to celebrate her birthday on Monday. I finished up everything except for the food. Party favors are ready to go.

And here are the bees all sewed together and stuffed with dried rice for "Toss the Bess into the Hive.'

It will be a wild time!

Birthday Prep

Alexa's birthday is coming up. She asked to havea party at home and has settled on a bee theme. She picked it out of a catalog. I think it fed into her never ending desrie to be warm and have Spring show up. Before she left for her dad's we listed out some game ideas that i told her I would work on while she was gone. I picked up some supplies yesterday and started my morning off today looking to create. The first task was to turn these items

Into a bowling game. As in "Bowl the Bee into the Flowers." Here is what I came up with.

I am not really sure that the styrofoam bee will pack enough power to knock over the pins (although they are pretty wobbly). I figure in a pinch we can use the ladybug kickball that she already has around the house.

I also created the board for "Toss the Bee into the Hive."

I was a little worried that the hive looked like... well... a pile of poop to be honest. So I added some bees in the background to help things along. I also cut out all the pieces and made a sample for our art project.

I will tackle painting the large bee for "Pin the Stinger on the Bee" another day.

Skating Party

Chloe had her friend birthday party yesterday. She had asked to have it at the ice skating arena. We started out in the party room. Chloe had to help me decorate. It was a bit of a organizational issue as Alexa was sick and had to miss out on it. Her Grammy Sharon was able to stay with her, but that left me running the party solo. Chloe was a great helper though and we had things up and ready to go in no time.

We had an hour to use in the party room before it was our time to skate. We decided to do an art project. I created these penguins for the kids to make, and they were happy to make them.

We ate some snacks and cupcakes before we headed down to skate.

It was a bit of a juggle to get them through the skating rental (for those that needed it) and then onto the ice, but once I got them all settled they had fun.
