We attended the First Night activities again last night. I learned some things from the previous year. Things like- show up at the face painting right when they open while the circus performance is going on and you will be first in line.
Alexa went with the princess choice for the second year in a row. Chloe is considering doing it for next year, but I think she said that last year too.
We made wands.
They participated in the print making and even got to roll the press.
One of their favorite activities last year was playing with the pottery wheels, but this year they didn't offer that. This year BCA was having the kids design ideas for the reconstruction of City Hall Park. Apparently they won a grant to redo the park over the next few years, so they had the kids make thing that they would like to see in it for the architects to look at. They they placed them in the model park.
They enjoyed this idea.
Chloe created the path criss crossing the park. If we see that in there in a few years we will know where it came from.
Then the kids wanted to walk in their school dragon in the parade down Church Street. I am sure in a year's time we will all (OK mainly me) have recovered from that ordeal. Lets just say at one point each kid was in tears (mine weren't the only ones) over not being able to find a space or being confused about what to do. By the end of it I had walked at a snails pace down Church Street trying to keep kids herded under the dragon so they wouldn't get lost in the crowd and my feet were so cold they ached. Both kids came out of it swearing they wanted to do it again because it was so fun. Funny how we had different experiences. Anyhow... the pink pair of boots and the purple ones belong to Chloe and Alexa. I made them stand together to ease my stress of trying to keep track on them in the crowd.
Things I have learned from my children, an incomplete list

The point of painting is not THE painting. It is PAINTING. The end result
doesn’t matter, but enjoying the process does. Plowing through all your new
